Starting small, on purpose
Why a young studio takes on fewer projects — and what we’ve gained by staying small.

When you start a studio, the instinct is to say yes to everything. We did, for a while. What we learned is that the work suffers long before the calendar does.
Fewer projects, more attention
Today we take on a handful of projects at a time. Each one gets the whole team — the people in the first workshop are the people who write the code and ship it. There are no account managers in between, and nothing is lost in handoff.
Small makes us honest
Being small means we can’t hide behind process. If an idea isn’t working, we say so early. If a deadline is unrealistic, we talk about it in week one, not week eight. Clients tell us that candour is the thing they value most.
We’d rather be the studio you remember than the agency you used.
We will grow — slowly, and only in ways that keep the work this close to the people doing it.
